Services

No-Fee, RRSP and RRIF Accounts.

Tradex offers both “regular” RRSP/RRIF accounts as well as self-directed accounts - all at no cost to you. In our regular RRSP/RRIF accounts, you can hold any combination of the three Tradex mutual funds plus our Tradex Investment Savings Account.

In addition, Tradex offers self-directed RRSPs and RRIFs.  Any investment, including mutual funds, GICs, stocks and bonds, can be held under the umbrella of a self-directed RRSP or RRIF. Tradex pays* the annual fees for these plans on your behalf. Few others can match this arrangement for value.

If you transfer your RRSP or RRIF from another institution to be under the administration of Tradex, we’ll pay the transfer fees that you are normally charged by the other financial institution.

No-Fee, Tax-Free Savings Accounts (TFSA)

This very beneficial program, which started in January 2009, enables Canadians to save on a tax-free basis. Unlike RRSPs, contributions to a TFSA are not deductible for income tax purposes. However, investment income, including capital gains earned in a TFSA, is not taxed even when withdrawn.

No-Fee, Registered Education Savings Plans (RESPs)

RESPs provide very generous government grants (normally 20%) as well as the ability to accumulate savings on a tax-deferred basis. As a result, they are a great way to save for a child’s education and we highly recommend setting up an RESP for your children or grandchildren.

No-Fee, Registered Disability Savings Plans (RDSPs)

The purpose of this account is to provide long-term savings on a tax-deferred basis for a beneficiary who has a prolonged and severe physical or mental impairment. The beneficiary named under an RDSP must be eligible to receive the Disability Tax Credit. RDSPs also offer a beneficial government grant of up to $3,500 per year for every $1,500 contribution for beneficiaries with family incomes of less than $77,664, and up to $1,000 per year for every $1,000 contribution for beneficiaries with family incomes of over $77,664.

Also, you have a great choice of how to invest your savings, including the Tradex mutual funds, our high-yield Tradex Investment Savings Account, and mutual funds offered by almost all other mutual fund companies in Canada.

Through this beneficial savings program, you can invest systematically in your RRSP account, Tax-Free Savings Account, a Registered Education Savings Plan or an open account (or any combination of these accounts).

Electronic Funds Transfer

Tradex offers, for those who want it, the ability to transfer funds electronically from their regular bank account to any of the investment products that we distribute. Also, when you want funds transferred back to your regular bank account, we’ll see that they get there in a timely manner (the normal settlement time for most mutual fund transactions is three days). This arrangement saves everyone a great deal of time and effort. If you don’t already have electronic funds transfer at Tradex, it’s very easy to set up this arrangement.

Socially Responsible Investing

Socially responsible investing, also know as sustainable investing or ethical investing, describes investment strategies which seek to maximize both financial return and social good. In general, socially responsible investment funds favour corporate best practices that promote environmental stewardship, consumer protection, human rights and diversity.

Tradex offers a number of socially responsible investing options, including the mutual funds managed by the Ethical Fund Company, Canada’s oldest and best known company in the socially responsible investing industry.
